Have you ever heard the expression “Who is she? The cat’s mother?”

I have.

And, I’ll be honest, I’ve only just realised what it means.

Made no sense until I heard someone use it in context.

It, of course, can be used by a parent to pull up a child when they say “she” (other genders are available) rather than giving a name.

Or, as the dictionary says, “said to one (esp. a child) who uses the pronoun of the third person singular impolitely or with inadequate reference”.

I’ve been using different versions of that phrase with my kids for what feels like an eternity now.

They’ll often say things like “He hit me”.

Or “What’s that?”

“Where is it?”

“I can’t find it”

Sometimes I have no idea who or what they are talking about.

Sometimes I know perfectly well, but am trying to teach them to include all the information the person they are talking to might require in a sentence.

And to actually ask for help, rather than just pointing out a problem.

I’ll be honest, it’s slow going.

But, we’ll get there.

It’s a useful skill in life.

To be able to include all the necessary information in what we say and to ask the best questions.

Doesn’t come naturally.

The better the information and the better our questions, the better the answers we get.

If we keep asking the same questions about weight loss and fitness, with the same lack of specific information………….

We’ll keep getting the same answers we’ve got before.

Which haven’t worked for us.

Long term.

Tracking our food and progress accurately for a short period of time gives us that information.

Talking to us about the different ways you could tweak and refine your approach to make it maintainable for you and still create positive, forward progress…………

Is waaaayyyyyyy better than “I don’t know why I’m not losing weight”.

We don’t have much to go on there.

We can only give a bit of vague directional advice.

Come to us with the best information you can (this is the first step to that, if you haven’t taken it already –>ย www.theacademygtc.co.uk/briefing-meeting).

And we’ll help ask the best questions that can be asked.

To get the best answers for you! ๐Ÿ™‚

Much love,

Jon ‘Lister’ Hall
