The same thing we do every day Pinky……..

Did you ever used to watch ‘Pinky and the Brain’?

It was a kid’s TV programme on from 1995 to 98 so you probably didn’t unless you’re a similar age to me (although Google tells me it’s coming back in 2020).

About two genetically modified animated mice and their escapades.

Every episode ended (or, at least, seemed to) with the dim witted Pinky asking megalomaniacal genius Brain “what are we going to do tomorrow Brain?”

To which Brain would invariably reply “The same thing we do every day Pinky……. Try to take over the world”

Never happened for them though.

Didn’t even get all that close.

Too big a goal.

Taking over the world in one go?

Never going to happen.

Small, maintainable actions that add up are key.

Sure, we can throw the odd ‘sprint’ of faster progress in there.

As circumstance and mood allow.

But those maintainables have to underpin that.

When we go nuts in January…………

When we do the equivalent of trying to overtake the world………..

Going from eating and drinking loads of crap and no exercise to a super restrictive and boring diet and smashing ourselves to pieces every day………..

We’re kinda asking to end up having to try again on some distant ‘tomorrow’.

Set some definitely doable basics to stick to.

A certain number of bits of exercise per week (we do both the sessions at the club and home workouts on the app / site for when you genuinely can’t make it –> www.theacademygtc.co.uk/briefing-meeting).

A regular look at the coming week and forming a bit of ‘plan’.

Or something similar.

Do these week in, week out.

Feel free to do more when you can.

But no one achieved world domination overnight 🙂

Much love,

Jon ‘Snowball’ Hall and Matt ‘Billie’ Nicholson
